Can someone tell me if the sea at this time is 5mm wetsuit temp?

I am booked on another liveaboard at the same time but the pics from last year they all have drysuits on (perhaps redundancy for people wearing doubles and stages?). I dont really want to wear one if I can get away with it. It can't be that cold surely!

Fiona you might be best placed to answer this one.

Thanks

5mm will be fine in November, but the wind can be cold on you exit, so make sue you have something to change into close by.

If it was me, I really would consider my drysuit, but it does eat into your weight allowance.

I haven't taken a dry suit to the redsea yet, I think I am more worried about ripping a seal or something which would be horrendous. I would take a 5mm but you might want to see what the others are taking as I haven't been on one of "those trips". On the other hand I took a 5mm to the Galapagos and swore I would never wear it again

I did a couple of northern New Year trips a few years ago and the dive guide wore a dry suit, by the time we had done night dives it was getting cold, so I think I might consider taking one, depending on how much other kit you are taking.

Don't suppose that helps

We had a couple of people wearing wetsuits on our trip last year, they were in 3mm full suits and quite warm enough. The rest of us were in drysuits, However only with a base layer underneath.

Thanks

John

Totally agree....but if you are afraid of the cold , you can wear the Fourth Element (Thermocline) suit under your 3mm. I used that in Lanzarote last month. Water was 19 "C. Felt warm enough. In the Red Sea in November, water is about 23"C. The advantage with this undersuit is that it is neutrally buoyant, and almost weightless to carry in the bag. Oh yes.....an added bonus is that you would look sexy in it..
