Hi folks,

I'm giving you a heads up. Weather for this weekend is not looking good. Sat looks definitely out and Sun looks better but...

I'm looking at the following:

North Malin Surf Report, Surf Forecast and Surf Webcams

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=47717

Metcheck.com - Global Weather Forecasts - [Updated on 26 March 2008 at 9:00] - Weather Feeds - Live Data - Long Range Weather Forecasts

Its not just the wind, its the swells generated from the Fri/Sat weather systems.

I'll talk to Geoff this eve and keep an eye on the RTE/BBC forecasts along with the above and make a call on it tomorrow (Thurs) lunchtime.

If anyone has better info or class of crystal ball (mine's broke) then shout.

Stephen

The weather site I like, says it's going to be rubbish as well:

I'm still hoping we get to dive Malin, partly cause I'd like to dive there to get familiar with the setup before the MOD2 next month.
If we don't get out, whats the alternative? (Mentioning the Alistor as two dives per day over two days is NOT an option...)

I have discussed this with Geoff 1 hour ago. I'm sure he will let us know in advance if this trip is going to be canceled. So, no panic yet

All the Best,
Frank

Well I'll be making the decision myself (my booking remember!) tomorrow lunchtime seeing what happens in the next 24hours. If it doesn't improve substantially its cancelled plain and simple. Of course if I cancel my booking others are more than welcome to make arrangements with Geoff.

Along with this sh*tty weather I have a full blown head cold and am on sachet number 3 of Lemsips Max Strength, so I hope a) the cold clears and b)so does the weather!

Yeah tis a bucket of shite alright. There's two factors here - firstly this is deja-vu back to the last weekend we were up and nothing got done and Roger & Paul had a very early morning for zilch. Secondly I'd love just to hang out with Geoff and shoot the breeze despite the weather but because of upcoming courses the priority at the minute is value for time&money. If there's anything less than a good promise on diving then I'm redirecting to somewhere where I can get wet even if it is the Alastor for the nth time.

As I mentioned I'll chat through the options with the skipper tonight and there'll be word tomorrow lunchtime. One contigency plan might be to do Ringhaddy on Sat and then head up to Malin on Sat eve for Sunday diving or alternatively cutting home if it doesn't work out. I really can't see things being in shape for Sat.

Now I realise that there a good boatload of experience on this trip / instructors / Malin regulars etc. and I'm very interested to hear if anyone thinks I'm misreading the forecasts.

Delighted to hear feedback/comments etc.

S
