Secondly I'd love just to hang out with Geoff and shoot the breeze despite the weather but because of upcoming courses the priority at the minute is value for time&money. If there's anything less than a good promise on diving then I'm redirecting to somewhere where I can get wet even if it is the Alastor for the nth time.

As I mentioned I'll chat through the options with the skipper tonight and there'll be word tomorrow lunchtime. One contigency plan might be to do Ringhaddy on Sat and then head up to Malin on Sat eve for Sunday diving or alternatively cutting home if it doesn't work out. I really can't see things being in shape for Sat.

Now I realise that there a good boatload of experience on this trip / instructors / Malin regulars etc. and I'm very interested to hear if anyone thinks I'm misreading the forecasts.

Delighted to hear feedback/comments etc.

Personally, I agree with your view on the forecast (ebay do excellent second hand crystal balls!) and I am in the same boat (literally) as yourself and want to get wet this weekend regardless, be it the Alastor if need be, although Malin being the better choice as Im up there the 10th of April doing the MOD2 and need the boat and depth. Saturday is most likely a blow out, and Sunday is still touch and go, if by tomorrow theres not a massive turn in the weather, then Id prefer Strandford on Saturday for two solid dives. Lets all have a dance and a pray to the weather gods, all together now!

I'll go along with this Steve, it looks crap at the moment, and I need to get wet this weekend as I'm doing a course the end of April, so if it looks dodgy in Malin, I'd rather head to Strangford or somewhere else.

No matter what happens though, don't let it put you off organising weekends mate

And me.

What we need is a good old plan B like they have just outside Hinkley in the old country!!

Good plan, please have another go! "If you build it they will come!!"

No matter what the outcome, Malin or SL, cheers for organizing it all Stephen, at the worst, I get a chance to drag my arse a few laps around the Alastor....again!

Cancelled folks. I'm very sorry about this. I've been onto Geoff and the weather up there at the moment is very nice and the viz is good however the weather is coming in tonight and Friday. He reckons theres a chance over the weekend e.g. with the wind direction and Culdaff but again its a no-promises gamble and for the reasons I mentioned above I've decided to play safe and pull the plug. Geoff is ok with this as I'm sure we'll all be spending time up there over the course of the season.

So thats it - thanks for the encouraging messages above. Its been a depressing couple of days to be honest. I HATE cancelling diving. Still onwards and upwards. See ye up at Ringhaddy for skills bootcamp and here's praying for a settled spell in April.

I'll run Malin again but I'm laying low till after MOD2 14-18 Apr

Cheers, Stephen
