| I placed a thread on here toward the end of last year stating that William Shiels, the said skipper, kept his boat out of the water over winter for the benefit of anyone who wanted to dive. This meant that you simply contacted William to check availability, then weather permitting and of course the minimum number of divers booked, William would take you out. Minimum is around 6 or 7 divers Its fair to say that there are many clubs and individuals who are not part of YD who dive with William all year round and therefore I guess this is why he hasn't taken my advice and advertised himself on YD and become part of the "community!" Perhaps if William joined YD, it would save Ben the hassle of trying to drum up divers to fill his boat. It would also be interesting to see exactly how many divers William gets on his boat each week/month as a result of Bens posting, compared to the none YD divers. None of this sort of posting does anyone any harm as long as its not "in your face" all the time. Afterall we have the choice to read or not read the threads don't we!

YD membership did used to do that actually. Perhaps it has changed that much and I am "out of date" here, in which case I apologise. Not that I am convinced it is necessarily a change for the better but this ain't "my front room" as they say.....

| Dear All, Thanks for the comments - appreciated. Yes you are right - basically if there are a few more divers it means I get to go diving! I have no financial gain by posting - everyone knows who I use as a skipper out of Seahouses and any future postings will simply notify of dates with YD members welcome to PM me or email me on bburville@hotmail.com if they are unsure of who to ring to book a place on the boat. Sadly depsite all the "huff and bluff" there are still only a handful of divers in the sea off the Farnes all year round - despite good diving. From Spring to late Summer the boats will be full and will sail weekly but trying to get more than a handful of divers together over the winter to actually dive the sea off the Farnes has been difficult. To those hardy souls (both ladies and gentlemen) who have turned out during the winter months- I say "good on you" and "thanks" - because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have had the chance to spend time underwater with the marine life there which is simply all I wish for from the posts. You'll see from the end of next month there will be very few posts as the boats are full till November time. To those of you who may wish to participate in "Winter diving" off the Farnes ...watch this space or send an email to me and I'll put you on a distribution list. As for my YouTube site this is simply to share unusual marinelife clips and if you're keen on seals/dolphin etc have a look - otherwise simply don't. The detailed broadcast footage doesn't get to go on the site but a selection of short clips are uploaded every now and again. Thats all, Safe diving and peace to all - life is too short!
