| FARNE ISLANDS - NORTHUMBERLAND SATURDAY MARCH 1ST WIND STOPS PLAY! DATE CHANGED TO SATURDAY 8TH MARCH The viz is improving! The weather has been great recently .Hard boat has now been planned for Saturday 1st March. Leaving from Seahouses at roughly 9.30am (TBC) Depending on weather and tides on the day it should be possible to dive both scenic / seals and some wreckage.... (I know some of you "wreckies" are scared of the seals... ![]() We had 12 divers out last Saturday and it beats any inland site hands down! As always this is simply to notify you divers who wish to have a wee bit of adventure and get in the sea. All divers responsible for their own dive planning/ buddies/ safety. Places booked direct with skipper (William Shiel) on 01665 721297 and monies - £30 per diver per day direct to skipper. ![]() Hope to see you there, Safe diving, Ben "Seal diver" YouTube - bburville's Channel Last edited by Seal diver : 27-02-08 at 07:13 PM. Alot of people I know do dive all year round and not just in seasons, so its good to find a skipper who is willing to take divers out over the winter months Also, I wouldn't call posting up an up and coming dive trip as advertising

| Once upon a time there was an ethos on YD that when you joined and posted it was give and take. You joined in the community, rather than just "posting". For a long time Ben has "posted". he has posted links to his YouTube collection and he has posted "advertising" (in inverted commas as I appreciate that he isn't the skipper) trips. I think it would be nice if he "joined", that's all. Or maybe YD isn't bothered about that any more?

| For Ben to be advertising would he not need to be making something on the deal? I think his videos are a contribution to YD, I certainly enjoy watching them and they were the inspiration for me to dive at the Farnes last year. Plugging the boat means that Ben increases the likelihood that the boat will sale and therefore he gets to go diving and so do other YD members. Being relatively new to YD I can't comment on what went before but I think Ben's contributions are good. |

| l think Ben's way of trying to fill the boats benefits both the divers and the skip at a time of year when less people dive so it is harder to make a living. Having organised boats for my old club, and suffering last minute drop outs, it's less of a headache to take responsibility for booking my own space rather than chartering the boat myself, trying to fill the spaces, and having the embarassment of people crying off.
