| If there is one thing Sharm is short of, it's taxis. I am glad to see, however, on my recent visit that all those old peugot's where you ahve to hold the door shut yourself, or you only get half way before the rear axle falls off, have been replaced! |

| One top tip. The standard published fare for the airport to Old Sharm is 40 LE (£4), slightly less than the £15 we got charged for a one way trip last month! ![]()

| Quite..... unless you arrive at 9pm to find that Red Sea Divers have told your boat that you're arriving the following day and there is no transport and the local contact number you have been given is incorrect. The local taxi guy lets you make a call from his phone as he has the correct number and you're told to use him and his mates as they know where we need dropping off..... puts you at a bit of a disadvantage when you're negotiating, particularly as I couldn't remember the standard fare! I have to say Flowers of Sinai were great though. They refunded the taxi money, got us some temporary accommodation on one of their other boats, and then produced a first class meal at midnight on Orchid once they'd got a berth in the marina.

| There's some amusing (but very wise and all just too true) advice in London Diver magazine this issue - unfortunately the full article isn't online yet, but if you can get your hands on a copy of the magazine, this article did make me laugh. |
