| Gonzo, Piggy et al I once booked a skiing holiday at a chalet on my own. I was lucky the others turned out to be nice people. Talking to the chalet girl about the previous week's guests I have to say I am now reluctant to go anywhere on my own unless I am precisely that -on my own- Chris

| I have been on several trips not knowing anyone at all. Both trips to scapa flow were just that - i knew no-one at all. Both times everyone was fine. I learned a lot from everyone, seeing how different people dive compared to the then limited experience i had outside of my now ex-club. I met John Mitchell on the Jane R with me and my buddy being the only girls amongst 10 blokes. I have booked onto hardboats not knowing anyone. I think you have to be prepared to jump in solo if you do this kind of diving.

| Whenever I travel I would either take a pony or twin up. As long as I had this redundancy I'd dive solo without a doubt. Juz

| As I am a Jedi of the light I had to use my imagination for this one. I almost got a car out of the swamp but lost my concentration at the last minuit. Bugger. Had to go for not putting myself in that situation and was surprised when I seen the results. Does this mean Vadar and chums may dive with me yet??? James

| Hum. Dived in Cozumel last year. First dive was with a yank who had bent his buddy on an 80m dive the previous day (leaking BCD hose apparently - didn't suss that he was putting in air but it was pissing out until 25m on the way back up). However he thought that Nitrox was "dangerous" (I suppose it is at 80m). Next day my buddy was a Canadian who didn't understand that my gauges were in bar and my computer was in metres. He managed to break his computer (geeee - my computer won't turn on) but dived anyway, had a look at my computer (in bar) then swam off and stayed by the dive guide for the rest of the dive. I distinctly remember thinking "this is going to be a solo dive then" and just making sure that I was within a few fin-strokes of Someone (not necessarily my buddy) as I was on a single tank. Having said that, I felt I was in control of the situation for the whole dive and had a great dive. If you're diving with muppets, as long as you know that, then yoiu can dive appropriately. It's when you don't know that you're diving with a muppet that's the problem. Laters, Janos
