Correct order of speeches at a wedding

Did get a good start to things when the Bm at a mate's wedding started "Well, that's the second time today I've stood from a warm seat, paper in hand..." which set the tone of the whole thing rather nicely.

You've not actually got to be very funny, because everyoe knows how hard it is, and wants to relax and laugh a bit. That said, you think the nerves are bad now, you should see what happens to perfectly functioning people once you put this pressure on them. Ha ha! How many brandies?

I would go with the bullet points thing- jot down the important bits and ramble on as much as you can.

Yup, this works well, done the father of the bride bit three times now and only one of my daughters is married, it was my sister the other two times.

It also helps if you don't mind making a prat of yourself, for which l am suitably qualified.
