Alien v Predator

Personally I’m not a huge fan of film sequels. Fair play there have been the odd few that have lived up to their predecessors. Terminator, The God Father and Lord of the Rings to name just a few. Now I would put all of the Alien films into this category. But where would we put the sequel to Predator?! Simple, down the toilet!!! What a pile of poo!!!

Anyway, when I heard that there was going to be an Alien verses Predetor, my heart sank. I got visions of Freddy and Jason (Another pile of poo!!!) But then I saw the trailer and I have to admit, it looks pretty good.

So, the all important question. Who is going to come off as the winner?!

In the red corner we have the Alien, ooo, don’t we love the shoelace effect.



And in the blue corner we have the Predator, who, when he opens his mouth looks like he’s got a bad case of gum disease.

One plucky, probably female, member of the human expedition team, and maybe a small child and/or a token pet. Seems to be the way of such films.

All Aliens and Predators will seem to be wiped out in a huge explosion at the end which the aforementioned plucky, probably female, member of the human expedition team barely escapes - but there will be a small loophole left that enables them to come back for a sequel if the box office justifies it.

I don't think the Alien has an 'ass' to be kicked whereas the Predator is a pretty standard (albeit tall and technically advanced) biped.

My logic is: Aliens are amoral killing machines. Predators have been shown to live by a strict moral code (of sorts). Therefore in typical Hollywood fashion, the morally superior one will win, so the Alien will get its prehensile tail kicked.

Also in true Hollywood fashion, the victorious Predator will probably die immediately afterwards, it still being an icky alien killer

but in a new-age, post Jurassic Park David Attenborough stylee, the Aliens aren't realy amoral so much as desperate to continue to propagate their species (i.e. only killing if the option of taking warm flesh back to the lair to incubate new little aliens isn't open).

This film was on the drawing board for years due to wrangling over the film rights with different studios.

I don't care who wins as long as they've done a decent job of it, it should rock!

Personally, though I reckon the humans will win...

Maybe they will mate and we will get a super race? Praliens perhaps? Or Aliors? I bet it won't be long before the porn industry does a humerously entitled spin off. Not much of a looker, though.

Aliens are scary. Predators, well you see them on Dover on a Saturday night.

I've heard the film at the cinema is a 15, but the DVD when released will be an 18 with lots of extra scenes. Hopefully it will be released soon.
