Isn't that the result that Hillary Clinton wanted, so she can run & most likely win in 2008? First female president?

We've had father/son, next it could be husband/wife!!!

If the dozy twats can vote in Arnie as governor, nothing would surprise me about husband/wife combo's.

Oh, and where the US Constitution states, currently, that the US president must be a 'born in the USA' citizen, certain (due to Arnie 'looking like a winner') circles in Washington are now looking into changing the Constitution and allowing the president to be a naturlaised citizen.

Any of you who've been watching the superb pre-election programmes on BBC 3 and BBC 4 ('Bush and the Neo-Conservatives', 'Bush & Jesus Christ' - a critque of the very worrying 'national policy based on the Bible' approach which Bush is taking, and 'Arnie: The Governator') can't help but feel that they are going to Hell in a handcart.

A very long article from the New York Times but very well worth the read and is a very balanced and factual. Nice explainations of why Bush is the way he is and why he is dangerous.

Alas, and tragically too late for Kerry, his "Look! I can do John Cleese!" routine back-fired in the meanest way possible - the shouts of 'Nazi!' were only moments away....

Cool God Help New Zealand!

Bush victory starts rush to leave US for 'safer' life abroad
By Paul Chapman in Wellington
(Filed: 09/11/2004)

Americans have been bombarding New Zealand officials with inquiries about emigrating since President George W Bush was re-elected last week.

The Immigration Service in Wellington said its website recorded 10,300 hits from America the day after Mr Bush was re-elected, more than four times the average of 2,500. A further 300 inquiries were being received daily by telephone and e-mail, compared with about eight a day before the election.

Don Badman, the service's marketing manager, said: "It has exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm on the night of the election." Interest is especially strong in Democrat-voting San Francisco and Los Angeles, where before the election many people threatened to leave if Bush won.

The size of his victory has led hardcore Democrats, as well as homosexuals, opponents of the Iraq war and supporters of abortion rights to fear that their values and way of life may be at risk.

Canada and Australia have also reported renewed interest from Americans.

New Zealand is seen as a relatively safe destination, because of its geographical remoteness and because the Labour-led government has distanced itself from the war in Iraq. It has said it will not be replacing a force of 61 army engineers who have just finished a post-war tour of duty attached to British troops in Basra.

Helen Clark, the prime minister, was careful not to link the surge in immigration inquiries with the election in America. Analysts said Miss Clark has no wish to undermine her government's uneasy relationship with the Bush administration.

"We regard US migration as very desirable," she said.

New Zealand has enjoyed a high profile in America in recent years thanks to the filming of The Lord of the Rings trilogy amid some of its most spectacular scenery.

Fans campaign to clear a path for President Schwarzenegger
By Marcus Warren in New York
(Filed: 18/11/2004)

A campaign to change the American constitution to allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for the White House has begun as the film star ended his first year as governor of California yesterday.

Fans of the Austrian-born actor have swamped the airwaves of his adopted state with television advertisements calling for an end to the ban on citizens of the United States born abroad becoming president.

The move has in theory been launched on behalf of all naturalised Americans but the name of the group behind it, "Amend for Arnold", leaves little doubt as to its main thrust.

"You cannot choose the land of your birth," its principal backer, Lissa Morgenthaler-Jones, says in the advertisements. "You can choose the land you love."

The advertisement says: "Twelve million people have chosen America", a reference to the country's naturalised citizens. "Help us to amend the constitution. Help us to amend for Arnold."

Mr Schwarzenegger, 57, has not explicitly supported the initiative but has coyly hinted that he might consider standing for the presidency if so allowed by the constitution.

Amending America's basic law is a major, but not impossible, undertaking.

The Senate and the House of Representatives must both approve the change by a two thirds majority and 38 of the nation's 50 states must ratify the move too. While there is no direct link between the action film star and the "Amend for Arnold" group, Mrs Morgenthaler-Jones has been an enthusiastic donor and volunteer working for his new career.

The new campaign calls on supporters to "give 10 to amend", $10, 10 days, 10 hours or just 10 minutes to lobby the cause nationwide.

The former bodybuilder confirmed his status as one of America's top political stars with a barnstorming speech to the Republican convention this summer demanding "four more years" for President George W Bush.

The son of an Austrian policeman, Mr Schwarzenegger moved to the West Coast in 1968 and took American citizenship in 1983.

His accent is still so thick that his strangled efforts at pronouncing the name of the state he now governs raise a laugh to this day.

Apart from changing Article Two of the constitution ruling that only "natural born citizens" can be president, the campaign to elect Mr Schwarzenegger to the highest office in the land faces one more obstacle, late night comedians joked this week.

The "Terminator" has successfully reinvented himself as the "Governator," they pointed out. But what would his role be in the White House, the "Presinator", "Presidentor" or the "Presidentator"? they asked.

They've just worked it out mathematically: the average American pays $4 a year towards the cost of their president - all I can say is that you get what you pay for...
