The Great Pet Debate

For me it has to be dogs, although I also have 2 cats, shit loads of fish and 2 albino dwarf aquatic frogs.

Just voted, don't like pets, because we have a stupid useless shite of a dog, a Shih Tzu called gizmo.
Allways dissliked him, but thought he'd, at least, bark at burglars, he didn't, so l hate him now.

Definitly a dog (daughter)....I love my dog so much that it is like having baby. She is so intelligent and playful At the end she comes to wait for me near the door when I can from work waiting to give me lots of kisses

People who know me know I love my cat loads, I think dogs are cool but my cat think she's a dog so I get the best of both worlds, a pet to walk and play fetch, but that can take herself out when it's cold and wet or I wana go out for the day. My cat is cute and cuddly plus very good at deciding whether people are nice or not so I vote for CAT.

Actually, I have to admit it was a very close ran thing between my cat and my budgie, cuz my budgie swears at the cat and people who don't talk to him plus tells me to hurry up and get in the beep beep (his word for car) and he loves me. He is such a sweetie especially when he is tired.

Cats are pants pets. They bugger off at the hint of better grub and accomodation, hense the phrase "in a cats whisker". Apart from that, they persistently cause marital problems when the wife overhears her inocent husband talking to his mates about stray pussy, but does she believe they are talking about cats?? I think not.

I'll go for fish, easy to keep, no boarding for holidays, and if your nasty to them they don't remember in 5 minuits anyway.

It just has to be a dog! I think the only wholly unconditional love you get from anything in this world is that which comes from a dog.

Cats can sometimes look like they care, but really they are only sucking up to you to get something they want. If they sit in your lap it's only because they want you to stroke them. Yes, they're clever and sly buggers, which can be very entertaining, but intrinsically selfish.

Dogs, on the other hand, are totally devoted to you as their pack leader and would do absolutely anything to please you. It's absolute devotion.

But it's got to be a big dog - not one of those little yappy things (though one of those is still preferable to a cat). It's not a proper dog unless it's big enough to knock you over!

I've not had a dog for some 4 years now (the shifts I work make it impossible) and I really miss it. It's good to be able to go away whenever I want and not to have to go out in the rain for a walk at midnight, but I miss the company and the enthusiastic welcome when I get home. There was a recent study I heard about on the radio which suggested that the single most important factor to personal happiness was owning a pet. I don't think I'd give them an argument.
