I must have killed thousands of wee furry things over the years. If you want to eat meat you gotta kill it first.

Got to agree with Chris - anyone who eats meat should be made to kill, gut, skin, wash, prepare and eat an animal at least once. Haven't for manys a year (but only because the old Bill won't grant me a firearms certificate ). I am a dab hand with a hunting bow as well - used to be the proud owner of a 1970's fiberglass reverse strung US Forest Ranger issue bow. Took two of us to string it but f**k me, it was powerful. Found a few 'lost' arrows dug halfway into pine trees before now

I have killed animals before but only to put them out of their misery when injured but if it came down to killing something to survive I would - have gutted rabbits etc before - just a bit messy not a problem though

But you would have hesitated, or you wouldn't have been able to make the decision as to whether or not their lives depended on it!

Question

So out out of the yes' so far how many have killed something themselves for food?

Just interested you see as when i lived in the US we went out hunting just to see what all the bs was about. TBH shooting at rabbits and sh*t isnt really up my street but being able to shoot an M16 assualt rifle was wicked fun!

I think every meat-eater should be made to kill and gut an animal at least once in their life. I used to catch rabbits in my youth.

I went deer hunting in the States to judge for myself what it was all about. I was hopeless. I scared off at least three deer and managed to kill nothing but tree-trunks. My friends sent me back to the car and I had to wait there. When they returned with their kill I wasn't too impressed and went all moral and sulky. Unfortunately, being the hypocrite I am I was first at the table for the venison later on that night.

The moral of the story - if I survive a world disaster which kills all rabbits and tinned food I'll die of starvation.

ps. Being crap at hunting makes you feel like John Voight in "Deliverance"
