To me depth is not a target. I am as happy on a shallow bimble as on a trimix dive. If there is something worth seeing then I will go there. I must admit that once the deco time gets to twice the bottom time I am beginning to say that it has to be really worth seeing! (Which is why I am Looking at a rebreather)

Depth for depth's sake can be fun. Sometimes 'being there' is only worth while because it's 'there' ............ if you see what I mean? It's certainly not the reason I used to dive but I can remember one particular dive which was just done because I wanted to know what it was like being at that depth.

I don't have a limit. I'd go to whatever depth the object I want to see is at provided I have the training, equipment and mindset required to do that dive.

I have two fave U.K.dives.
One is 8m (occasionally 10m!)
The other is 29m to seabed...

But I do go a LOT deeper at times. The Wolf Rock lighthouse (70m) was amazing. But couldn't find the supposed "lost sub"

I do not have a fave depth.. just fave dives!

I don't care about depth at all, I'm perfectly happy under Trefor pier or Blue Lagoon at 6M max. I am only qualified to 30M anyway and I don't go below that, not because it bothers me or I think there is anything to worry about, but sods law says something goes wrong and I'm diving beyond my qualifications.

I am thinking about doing the PADI deep course to allow me to go in the 30-40m range purely because so many dive trips are in the 30-35m range (assume they are sorted by bsac people?)

I was going to say I prefer the under 20m range, but at 30M in Dahab was one of the nicest dives I've had, so it's more down to the temperature and light penetration along with the life to look at.

I always feel obliged to point this out but the various agency depths are only recommended limits. They are not law where it is wrong to cross the boundary and you end up on the naughty diver's step.

IMO, experience far outweighs quals for good air diving divers. Also, in my experience there were (in my area) as many PADI divers as BSAC divers doing the 35-40 mtr dives. Don't forget the PADI 'deep diving course' is a relatively new creation and people were happily diving to 40 mtrs before but had built up their experience.

I'm not knocking doing courses (I've done plenty myself).

You'll just find yourself without any insurance though...

Actually there is rather more to see at the bottom of the pool than you would like!!!!! Why do people drop some of that stuff? It a public POOL not a public convenience!
