No Matter how much kit you have and no matter how expensive it was, there is always something extremely expensive which is essential for next weekend's dive. I do hope you're not trying to defeat fate

| the big factor is distance, at one point last year I got up at stupid o-clock to drive down to plymouth, did two boat dives with Edward and drove back. cost including petrol a shade over £250 for the day. Madness!!! Having said that I voted in the £40 to£65 slot as an average cost so accepting the midpoint if I do my target 100 dives this year that means I'll spend maybe £5k on diving plus kit (so far new fins, new torch, new arctic top, new camera and housing still got to pay for the strobe) being realistic and allowing for the fact that I'm a kit tart that means my diving this year will cost me between £6k and £8k. Am I fcuking mad!!! Di why did you start this thread? ![]()

| I clicked at the botom end of the range. The majority of my dives (and hence the median dive if not the average dive) are a walk across the road and down the bank into the sea. Hence just the fill cost $NZ6 or about 2 pounds 30p.. ![]() If I factored my once annual overseas excursion - Solomon Islands in September 2008 in - the answer would be somewhat different but I can't do those maths in my head! My diving is split into two: Quarry diving = cheap. If local - fuel £20, food £5, Gas £15 - so 20 quid per dive for 2 dives. If further away - fuel £40, B&B £50, food £30, Gas £40 - so 40 quid per dive for 4 dives over a weekend. Hard boat diving: Boat £30-45 per day (say £80), fuel £60, B&B £50, food and drinks £60, Gas £50ish, stuff bought at the LDS £?? - £75 quid per dive for 4 dives. ouch. Lets not factor into that training costs to date, equipment costs to date etc..
