If I factored my once annual overseas excursion - Solomon Islands in September 2008 in - the answer would be somewhat different but I can't do those maths in my head!

l am just so tempted to give a red blob for this, but l would have to do it daily for the rest of the year to equal the above comment

Yesterdays dive.

£15 gas lime etc etc

£40 for the dive

£120 diesel

£12 parking

£10 food

So just putting over 110 dosent do it justice.

This isn't necessarily an average dive cost because I often get a dive in when I'm travelling so it's difficult to remember. What I've done is looked at the cost of doing a dive with my club.

Boat Fees: £15
Back Gas: £4.50 (for Nitrox assuming twins are filled but used over two dives)
Transportation: £1.00 ish or whatever the cost of driving to the marina is
Parking: £4 ish
Beers after dive: £4.70

Total: £29.20

Bear in mind this includes 2 rolls, a cup of soup, a coffee/tea and as many scallops/lobsters/crabs as you can bag I reckon I'm close to a profit

Just spent about £2.50 in fuel driving QS to babbacombe this morning. Well actually that's a fiver as I had to nip back home to pick up the drysuit she forgot.

Cost of a dive doesn't really make much sense really, but a days diving does.

A basic local dive for me would be over £50 and then a weekends diving somewhere like the south cost would be over £200.

The last time I dived Dover was a single diving day and because I went down the night before for a silly O'clock start the day was probably £150.

Glad I don't do squeaky gas

Per day is a more realistic way of doing it other than per dive. A day can have 1,2 or sometimes 3 dives.

I know to teach students in NDAC (my nearest place) costs me roughly £30 per day. Yesterday for 2 dives off club boat cost me £50 all in.

Since my UK diving is usually done whilst i'm taking the clan on holiday, food+fuel+accom can be written off to the group trip (clever eh!). For the diving, it's usually shore dives on air and i usually pay £20-25 per dive with the guide supplying the tanks.

Trips to the red sea are treats from me to me, to prevent/lessen the onset of winter depression and are therefore priceless and cheap at twice the price. Try and add it up in front of me or within earshot of the clan and your next residence will be "a recently disturbed patch of earth" with a police tent over it!!.

I think of it this way, if i didn't spend it on diving, it would go on fast cars and loose women, both of which are more dangerous than diving!.

Nearly forgot cattery fees (= cat bail *2) if we're all away

All in all it's probably cheaper to have a crack cocaine habit!

Never mind, we all do it out of choice
