How much does the average dive cost you?

Hi folks

Following on from a couple of comments in a thread, regarding disposable income, how much do people spend to go diving for the day - average cost per dive, including car gas to get to the site, food, accommodation if necessary, boat fees, diving gas....

This is NOT an exercise on How Much I spent On All My Gear, How Much I Save With My Gazillion Pound Rebreather, I Bought A Bigger Car, My Computer/Training/Ego cost me x-amount, etc etc It is just to find a realistic figure that people have to stump up for a day in the sea (you could include quarries if you must, but they come under training don't they, rather then enjoyment)

Also, please share any money saving tips

Di

This could be interesting especially from the people that always ask where they can buy from to save a farthing

I don't want to work it out, I might not be able to afford it.

With a hardboat dive costing around £40 plus and the cost of fuel these days and parking I can't see anyone spending less than £65 unless thay have their own boat

I had to vote near the top end of the scale, because if I go sea-diving, I usually go down Portland way, and I usually take Mrsabucks as my buddy... so x2 to pay for! (But I should look on the bright side... my daughter is saving towards her OW ticket... when she gets that, it'll be x3!)

It is per dive - unless you just do a one dive day of course, I was assumming most people would do two......... so a two dive day could be over £65 per dive, giving over £130 for the day. If you think I should have more higher categories , tell me & I'll add them...

The NND club rhib cost about £25 per dive (including car gas, diving gas, boat gas, dive fee, air fill, but excluding membership fees..)

EDIT : Rats, the title is How much for a days diving & the poll is per dive I am a muppet It is per dive

well the majoority of hard boats i use for a day are £30 for 2 dives, is £15 each with food and accom done as cheaply as possible and as much vehicle sharing to spread the ever spiraling cost of fuel i'd say mine vary from £25 to £50.

although having done some serious damage to the car travelling back from may island trip this weekend it works out at over £400 per dive

With the club rib it's about £6-7 a dive, a bit more if we go further afield. Usually a two dive day so max £15 for the day. Cheap as chips!

You do need more categories. An open circuit 60 meter dive (like the Aristos I did earlier this year) cost me £45 for the boat, £30 in diesel, £50 in back gas, £15 for deco gas, and had we not got up at 4am in the morning £35 for a B&B. I don't even want to add that up.

A guy on the DIR UK boat used to add it up and then divide it by minute of bottom time. Ouch - la la la - I'm not listening!

well, our club trip to Bovi at the end of this month is costing us £210 pp this includes boat and full board accomodation for three days diving. This works out at £70 per day but I suppose you need to add travelling expenses and nitrox fills. I think the boat is around £40 which is'nt bad. This why I love swanage so much, you can get two dives off smooth hound then with the few bar left in your cylinder you can spend ages under the pier making it seem you are really getting your monies worth
