| Imported post For me, Radio 1. started on it's way downhill when it lost/got rid of joss dickies of the calibre of "Fluff" Freeman, Daft Lav Trellis and Jimmy "as it 'appens" Saville (all bow!). Used to listen to R2 all day when I was lorry driving, generally started with Alex Lester at about 4 am and finished with whoever was on at 8 pm, (and some people think they work long hours!). Now it's R2 in a morning and Radio Scotland after din-dins. Have to swap over as I could quite cheerfully cut Steve Wright's heart out with a spoon! As for Richard Allinson, bring back hanging!

| Imported post When driving, Radio 4 for 40% of the time, Radio 2 for 20% of the time, and homemade compilation CDs for about 40% of the time. If you have a digital telly, then Radio 6 is well worth a listen. Laters, Janos

| Imported post Fiona, yep you got me. I listen to R2 in the morning as the alarm clock starts me off with Alex "slap my top" lester and I continue with Sarah Kennedy in the car 1, fork out for a new MD player 2, put that money toward the IANTD advanced nitrox course I've always wanted...

| BBC Radio 4 (except 'The Archers'!) - and nothing else! National coverage, never need to retune the dial, and with me like a constant and familiar travelling companion. And stimulating beyond measure. Comedy, News, banter, debate and little esoteric items/packages which simply would not get airplay anywhere else in the world. Vive la Difference!! And a shortwave to receive the BBC World Service when I'm in-country! If I want music, then I resort to CDs of my choosing, and not the inane drivel of some inappropriately and uber-chatty, wanna-be-loved DJ. And on the long haul between Manchester and HQ, I have recourse to audio books also: 'This Sceptred Isle', 'The Surgeon of Crowthorne', 'The Diary of Samuel Pepys', and Peter Ackroyd's 'London - The Biography' was awesome! I once had the gross error and misfortune to fiddle with the 'find' button on my car radio and alighted on something called 'Radio 1 FM'! Ye gads man! Some white chap trying to be a Rastafarian and intoning the virtues of something he referred to as "The Essential Selection", before trying to regale his listeners with something called 'Drum-n-Bass', before promoting a broadside of overt gash with the nom de guerre: 'Acid Garage'?? WTF?! I thought Country & Western was the death of music, and then I heard 'Rap' (a form of noise only significant for it missing the letter 'C' as its righteous prefix).

Apparently he had his Volks camper 'alf-inched a couple of years back whilst having a brew in the Green Welly at Tyndrum! And to further reinforce my sad image: He opened the new all weather "sports pitch" in Benderloch t'other year dressed in a two piece tartan shell suit. Sad eh??

| Imported post <font color='#000F22'>People complain about the TV license fee and when I watch most of Beeb output these days I can understand why. BUT To me Radio 4 is worth £100 a year on its own.
