    "Naive" or just opinionated?

I think "Naive" is a bit harsh. I'm not sure what reaction I expected from this thread but the fact that even a small percentage agrees with me cheers me up as usually I get the impression that noone thinks as I do.
I think at least most people who've replied to this thread are thinking about what fish they eat, where it came from and how it was caught. A few years ago people didn't talk about sustainable fishing, so something is changing.

I'm almost a vegetarian in that I don't eat meat but will eat fish. I'll also eat Duck on the grounds that they are semi-submersible.

So is a cow in a puddle?!

I was always of the mind that cows, sheep etc eat grass, therefore they are made of grass therefore they are made up of vegitation therefore they can be eaten by vegitarian...!?!

As some one once said...I'll get my coat...

You and Turbanator - separated at birth. He has the same crackpot theory

That, and his one about the definition of a vegetable being anything that doesn't suckle its young. I guess men fall into that category.
If you have to think about it for more than thirty seconds, you probably shouldn't get in.

The suckler AND the sucklee are not vegetables. It is implied by the statement. Anyway, I'm sure you must have noticed men are attracted to breasts? Well, it's not because we really like breasts but just because we want the world to know we are not vegatables.

You let him off lightly there!! (stir, stir)!!

I eat fish but as in other forms of meat I'm selective.

Anyone with any interest in the future of eating fish (and the future of the oceans and maybe human life) should read this book:

Amazon.co.uk: The Unnatural History of the Sea: The Past and Future of Humanity and Fishing (Gaia Thinking): Callum Roberts: Books

Not preachy, and whilst painting a very scary picture of the negative impact fishing has had on the oceans over the past thousand or so years, it does offer some hope - basically lots of total no take marine reserves, actively protected, and bans of the most damaging types of fishing gear.

Personally I do eat fish but try to avoid at risk species and try to avoid trawled stuff.

Whether anyone is eating any in 50 years depends on fisheries management making some sensible choices, globally - not easy choices either. Fingers crossed....
