I was born in Leeds, (Yorkshire) and lived there until I was 23. Pass through there on a regular basis visiting the folks. I live in Edinburgh now, a stones throw from Dougie Paddler.

My wife is from Yorkshire and i got married there (Bradford).

As a lifelong Liverpool supporter this was very painfull.

This admission is enough pain for one post

PS My Army mates arrived at the wedding in Flat hats holding black puddings muttering "Ey up where's me wippet bye ecky thump" throughout. They are very predictable though and were very drunk. But thats squaddies for you.

What's the scores on the doors?
At the moment we have 10 in Yorkshire, 13 from elsewhere, 3 formerly from Yorkshire, and 2 deeply ashamed. That's almost 50:50 if you include those who were forced to leave and the deeply ashamed. I am surprised that it is so many. If we hang in there we might make a majority....

Yorkshire born and bred
Was born in South Yorkshire bred in South Yorkshire, but had to move south for my Job (needed someone hard working in the south but could not find one so sent for a Yorkshireman.), Heart still in South Yorkshire . Go back regular as my family still .live there.

We used work darn't pit we'd get up 2 hours before we went to bed.
work darn't pit for 25 hours and then father used to whip us to sleep.

Shame to hear someone lived in Hull, though. I feel for you!
