Multiple Gas configuration rigging

I have received quite a few emails asking for pics of the jan box with the different bottles plumbed in so there is now a gallery with a few pics, also you can see the double GF 100 HID mounted on a single handle in the pics and the F4 canister on top of 1l redundant O2 bottle. There are several more pics to go on there of the back of the rig to show hose routings.

Regards

Sorry to hijack the thread Ammers, but do you have the latest on what's happening at Dotty?

There have been various rumours over the years - it'll close, someon'e's bought it and is gonna do an NDC on it etc. - but from I gather, the last I heard, whomever has bought the place might now actually be doing something divers might benefit from? Am I right, or is it something else?

Sorry for the hijack!

dotty

Work is starting on December 9th to begin conversion. Recommendations have been made to the new owner that one entrance should be kept open to permit technical divers to continue using it. Can't say any more on here.

Many thanks. A nice looking bit of kit you have. You seem to have tidied it up a bit since we did the training. Dont you use those sidemounts any more, I am sure you know the ones I mean.

All the best

Oh noooooooo..... I can feel a rant coming on.... must try not to.... too late!!!

The best thing they could do for technical divers is just leave it alone. Nice as the NDC is, it's even better to have somewhere that I can go and do what I like without getting told off, looked after or second-guessed. I wouldn't mind a secure car park but I can live without it. I can also live without paying 8 or 10 quid to get in just for a few portakabins and whatever other facilities I'm told I need. FFS we're supposed to be divers, can't we live with being self-sufficient? It might be great having chambers on site at Stoney & the NDC but no disrespect to the places, I wouldn't personally want someone who works in a dive centre treating me after getting bent at 90m (as happened twice to me at Dorry). Apart from anything else, Dorothea is a beautiful piece of industrial archaeology slowly getting reclaimed by the landscape. There's something special about the place on a midwinter's morning that is going to get lost.

Bugger it, I'm going to have to print some CE-approved stickers for my feckin rebreather now

Sorry, Annemarie, back on topic. Very interesting rig, cheers for the pictures. Are you going to the YD Edinburgh Christmas binge?

totally agree stuart

Yes I'm in complete agreement.

I went yesterday afternoon and there was no one else there, it was beautiful and cold and misty. Good pub nearby, no chest puffing instructors, no one going on about diving solo, can do your own thing, plenty space to fettle etc. I could rant too but I won't. These "facilities" just show that if you're a self sufficient diver underwater you're self sufficient on top. We go fully prepared to cook and camp, I don't care about having a dump outside either!! LOL!! Why though does the urge always come on after I've got my suit on!!

Can you print me some of those stickers too please!

The rig is evolving nicely over time however there is some major work that needs to be done to it yet. Very time consuming. As for christmas I'll be diving so no! Plus my principles prevent me from going out in Edinburgh

Brian, are you referring to my fire brigade stages by any chance, I still have them, fine bottles they are, would you like to purchase, special price for you only hehe. Turning up to a Mod 1 course with my full trimix rig was rather amusing! Good to see you back on the bubbleless side.

If there are any more of those CE stickers around then a couple wouldnt look out of place on my new creation when it takes off,

// Tact ON
Thanks for the offer of those stages but I think I will manage without them.
// Tact OFF

I do agree with you that the full trimix rig, comprising YBOD with no back, held together with string. 3 totally current limited cells. Not a single cylinder of yours was in test. Get the decanting whip out!!!
And then going for a 30 min solo jaunt on the first training dive was possibly more than Steve expected.

He was on the verge of raising a shout when you popped your head up.

All in all it was an unusual course. Not like any I have done before.

Brian

aye right!

Get out of it, he had a right good laugh at my antics! You were there when he laughed after the first dive and said if it was possible he would cert me to mod 3 there and then!! The most amusing part was when he was teaching you the drills and I was swimming around him doing different drills LOL. Caught up with him at dive show and had a laugh about it.

This bottle testing's all just part of the big cartel which I refuse to succumb to. Fuck em! Print up a few stickers, bob's yer uncle.

Anyway, leave my poor bottles alone they've done nothing to you! So spill the beans, what's been going down this last year, did the yellow peril scare you off it all!!

Regards

AnneMarie
