Was reading through Madmole site and saw this info about putting synthetic chamois in the bottom of scrubber to absorb any moisture found there! Anyone here tried it ? What are your views about this ? DO you buy oxygen clean synthetic chamois

He said get a trek towel, roll it into a sausage and hold it together with cable ties, then put it at the bottom of the scrubber.

| Hi. I tried a disc cut in the bottom of my scrubber, on my first try with the diisc at Waswater to 47 metres I spiked my set and the set point rose till the alarm went off, I was diving with a chap on OC who had never dived with a rebreather buddy, and although he was asked not to he went down to fast, so I ditched him and went down at the proper speed, ok a dil flush cured the problem but I couldnt be sure what caused the spike , me, the decent, the set, or the absorbant disc?. I have never had a problem before with the set point, except my first ever dive with my new Inspiration at Capenwray, I was with Andy my Instructor, tried changing set points back and forth, then we came back to the surface turned the handset's to change slave and master and the thing was ok from that point and has been except for this one episode since. Still there was'nt any moisture in the scrubber, so it did work, but I think im to windy to try it again, maybe later when the learning curve is'nt so steep

It was decsribed as 'those little towels that absorb a lot af water' As for pure O2 compatability, I tend to side with the the DIR crowd and that it is a lot of toffee. We have to pay to change all of out little o-rings to from butyl to nitrile rubber but seem to forget that the inside of our HP hoses are 'normal' rubber. As are the hoses on your RB. And it will be damp most of the time, that's why we're putting it there ![]() r Paul
