| I'm guessing your on an ybod?! personally i don't have a problem with sealing a scrubber and reusing it but it would depend on how deep i intend to go on the next dive but after my hit i will always check the scrubber after I've finished diving. are you using your car with the unit in it? or dose it just stay put when not diving?as i believe was part of my hit from settling after very long journeys john routley Quote:

| Just using the car for diving. Live in Leicester and just travel to the Cove and back. I have the YBOD sat upright on the back seat strapped in with the seatbelt to stop it falling over.

| Personally I just stick it back in the lump and seal it up. Then again, it does strongly depend on what dive I plan to do with it next....

| in my humble opinion! you are right Stuart with my unit all i do is enpty the water trap and cap the scrubber but with the ybod are you leaving the scrubber open to dry the cells or do you have so much moister the the stack that it needs to be left open? as i dont think a small amout of moister in the stack makes much differance john

| Hi Shaun, If you leave the stack to dry, opened, there is neglible, in fact zero, gas flow through the scrubber. My advice would be this, leave the head open over night to dry and empty the water from the bottom of the cannister, if present. Then reseal it in the scrubber and close the mouthpiece. As long as your dives are shallow (20m or less) AND you carry adequate bailout, you should be ok. However, my final advice is this: When you're driving your car and you ask yourself 'Do I need to put my lights on?', well the answer is in the question, if you have to ask yourself then you should. Only you can make your own decision with the scrubber, I guess what I am saying is, if you think you may need to change it, then change it anyway. This is purely my viewpoint and does not represent that of any teaching agency. Apply this advice at your own considered risk. Cheers Dave Cooper

| I take my can out to dry the head indoors, and if I'm gonna re-use the scrubber I seal the can inside a large zip-lock bag to prevent the lime drying out. There is a moisture content in the Slime that is required for the reaction, so you don't want it drying out. Remember though to keep track of the hours you've used the Slime for and make sure that the 4 dives you're planning all fit within the 3 rules for Slime: Basically: 1. Max 180mins total time 2. Once at 100mins, be shallower than 50m 3. Once at 140mins, be shallower than 20m If you can do 4 dives within these limits, and you somehow seal the can up from week to week - I'd not be too overly concerned.
