Bail out cylinder help

Hi All
I am after a bail out cylinder for my KISS I currently have a steel 3L which to be honest is not big enough so I was looking and getting 7L but have read that steal ones can hang down?? so my attention has now moved the either a Luxfer 40cf or 80. All my diving is 40M max very little deco stuff at the moment.. Any comment welcome.

Cheers

Hi Mark,

I use two 40 cuf luxfers down to 85 metres for bailout.

Cheers

I've been using 1 or 2 Catalina S80's as that is what I have lying around, they are rather large for shallow stuff but they are fine in the water.

HI Mark,

I am currently using a 40 AL. I also have a complement of stage/bailout bottles. No steels since they do tend to hang a tad vs. sorting themselves into a nice slipstream position like the AL's. If you go on the KISS site look under the photo section under Rebreathers and you can see ... actually I can post it. One for bailout, the other for emergency deco. Cheers. ken

Brief hijack - does anyone know offhand what the capacity of 40cf and 80cf cylinders are in UK terminology? (i.e. how many litres water capacity). An 80 is about 11L isn't it?

Very interesting, I tried to work some sums out and concluded that at least I need 2 5liter cylinders to get me out from a 60m 25min bottom time with an RMV of 12 - 15 lpm. Also this can be easily worked out from my OC stuff as I always had 70bar in twins and 100bar in 10L! How would you manage to surface with 2 5liter stages (maybe I am running I know or thinking OC), also can it be done with a flodded loop so no SCR?

I hope I am not hijacking thread but maybe interesting to work out how much bailout you need!

Hi Pierre,

In essence with longer than 15-20 min bottom times, very difficult.

This is why I have an independent twin drop tank and stage a cylinder at the bottom of the shot.

I rely heavily on SCR and partial OC ascents to get home.

Cheers

Dave
