Question Drying out the scrubber head

Hi all

I am newly qualified YBOD Air Diluent (10 hours).

Last time I stripped down the unit and cleaned it, I left the scubber head hanging over a chair near a radiator overnight to dry out. The following day, I packed averything back together (with no sofolime in the cannister) and left the unit alone for a month. When I opened the unit to prepare it for a trip, there was masses of condensation inside the scrubber unit again.

Are there any tips for getting the thing properly dry before storing the unit? I don't have an airing cupboard. A hairdryer maybe, or putting silica gel in the unit when stored? I don't really want to pull the sensors out every time I finish a days diving.

Thanks, Paul

NEVER, EVER put the cells near a heat source to dry them. Overnight in a warm ish room is fine.

Don't bother to do it up. Leave it in bits. Worse case leave it wet. It won't do any real harm. It's always going to be wet aprés dive.

ARGH!!!!
Please don't do that. The threads will last about four goes. Just leave it to dry and, as PF says, never heat it up.

One other thing, if you ARE going to take the cells out for any reason, it's better to remove the molex connectors first rather than trying to twist out the cell and causing damage.

It's better not to tinker for no reason, too much stripping and rebuilding can cause more problems than it solves.

If you leave the head itself hanging over a wardrobe door with the scrubber lid facing down the water will drip out and it will air dry in no time. Exposing the sensors to heat will permanently damage them so if your head has been near a radiator I advise that you check for current limiting.

Regards
AnneMarie

I should add that I haven't taken the sensors out, but was frustrated as they did not seem to dry properly with everything still packed in. Needless to say I won't be removing them any time soon.
I'll check them following the radiator incident, however, it was only near, not on the radiator so I do not expect any damage was done (he says, facing the cost of replacing 4 sensors).

Anyway, thankyou to you both for your replies.

Paul
