Trimix trip/course report

"Second dive was going to be more skills & drills with full OC bailout ascent , Other than me forgetting to switch to low set point & having to faff around the menu it went ok untill we got to our gas switch depth ,I switched & there was a horrible weazing sound as if some one had drawn their dying breath .Quick check & I'm still breathing & nothings bubbling .Steve has immediatley spun round to look assuming that its me after all my problems ,but it's not me it's Ash (told you revenge ) he switched & suddenly there was air escaping at a rate from the hose to 2nd stage union ,unfortunately 5 seconds later there was no union as they seperated completly Steve sopon helped sort it out & then it was time to deploy smb's & ascend only I got a reverse block at 6m & dropped to clear it without realising the line had jumped the real & proceeded to jam solid ,as can be imagined much mickey taking back on the pontoon "

back on track....AP not letting anything out

Q - "is the apd bov out yet for the vision ??"

A - "No – unfortunately the new mouthpiece is not out yet – but we will send you all the details as soon as possible when they are confirmed. "

When I was there last year and had a tour around the factory I asked about the long awaited BOV, the person just laughed. For obvious reasons the person can't be named.

i agree with the comments so far on the use of a bov specifically for a CO2 hit.
The bov that mark has referred to on RBW looks well made from the reports/pictures, and uses the same inspo twist action to go from cc to oc.
The new apd bov looks easier to use (based on the prototypes demo'd at LIDS and the other dive shows over the last 8-9 months) with just a handle to push/pull down.

but just how long are you willing to wait for apd to deliver?????

I also agree with the comments made regarding a BOV. I had a problem at depth with my breathing rate going through the roof to such an extent that i wouldn't have been in a position to hold my breath long enough to swap regs. Bailing out was impossible and I just couldn't do it. I didn't have a BOV at the time..... I do now.

I believe a diver recently died of a CO2 hit where his breathing rate was through the roof and in the time between swapping from his mouthpiece to his bailout reg, continued to breath at a rapid rate breathing in water and drowned.

At the end of the day the choice is a personal one but I know what I've chosen. It's always a case of not having something until you need it, and then it's too late

Urm well i got my first inspo (classic) in 2000. ADV's hadn't been invented then, well not by AP. Bob's bobomatic was about.

Didn't get an ADV till i upgraded to a Vision in 2006, so that was 6 years.

I am happy to wait till AP's comes out.
