    Full face mask recommendations

    Hi,

I'm not a rebreather diver, but one of my mates is and it's difficult for him to access to the internet, hence I'm asking the question for him.

Does anybody have any recommendations for full face masks? There's quite a few brands out there and he's just not sure which are the better ones.

    Cheers

    Julian

Most rebreathers say that they are specifically not to be used with full face masks because of CO2 issues. They specifically want the loop connected into your mouth.

There are some 'pod' systems that get used so we can do coms but they are a long way from a normal FFM system.

Thanks for the speedy reply Nigel. I think my mate is just in the early stages of investigation so yours and any other comments are very gratefully received.

He's been CCR for a few years now and has an Evo and Inspiration (I'm this doesn't make any difference, but just adds to the background )

    Cheers

The Draegar Panorama Nova is specifically designed to accommodate a rebreather.... well the R version is anyway. Instead of the oro-nasal cup you get an adjustable nozzle and mouthpiece to reduce the CO2 build up in the mask. They're a great bit of kit. Instantaneous bail out using another port and a TX100 reg with a P Port back by breathing through your nose. The final part of the problem is finding a DSV with a P Port, but that isn't an issue with a Meg!! Alternatives include a Tecme/Golem BOV with a P Port plate and these will fit an Inspo/Evo... at a cost.

I have no idea what all this means but it sounds great, I'll print it all off and give to my buddy.

    Thanks

Steve has said it all really The Drager is designed for CCR use but the problem is getting one to fit it. You could get a "p" port adaptor which replaces the bite piece on the DSV but it will forever be a failure point IMHO.

The Meg has a decent DSV for a Nova but they aren't cheap. You can adopt this DSV to other CCRs.

If you need any other info PM me your number and I'll call.
