| rebreather training in ireland hi all, just finished my mod 1 course on the inspiration with an instructor called steve phillips up north, steve is the head man for tdi uk and as such does not advertise as an instructor out of fairness to other tdi instructors but he will run courses for anybody who contacts him, he can be contacted at tdisdiuk@aol.com. he operates out of dv diving (newtownards) when running courses and diving is conducted in strangford lough, almost allowing for all weather diving. he runs a full range of OC tec courses as well as CCR inc trimix dill. here is how i got on, day one: theory and two hours confined water training (all drills, flying manually, bail outs, removal and replacement of unit underwater etc) day twopen water dives skills etc day three: dives on the wreck of the Alistor (20-25M) skills inc rescue senario with lift day four: Alistor again more skills followed by midwater accent on smb with safety/deco stop followed by theory exam. day five: deep dive followed by a 12m wreck dive where skills were given a final assessment. i found the course to be intensive yet conducted in a relaxed atmosphere, steve is an extremely experienced diver and a fantastic instructor who takes no prisoners and tells you like it is. i would be suffiently impressed to return for further courses with steve. the guys at DV diving were also a great help and would go back there also. i stayed in a b&b 2min down the road from the center which also has a self catering cottage perfect for groups of divers (ballycastle house) the dive center is 25-30min from belfast. dom |

| Congrats, glad that you have found a good instructor. IMHO, the instructor is much more important than the agency. r P
