Thumbs up

Hi all,

The BSAC course equivalent to MOD 3 from other agencies was piloted in January. Feedback from this course is being integrated into the materials for MOD2 and 3 for release at DOC 2006. O/C courses will be released at the same time. Vision and Evolution updates are available now and the first batch of instructors have been qualified for these units. Andy Goldby did write the KISS material but no pilot course has taken place.

MOD 1 course takes 5.5 days so can be fitted into 2 long weekends, although a full week is a better way to teach it. If the weekend approach is taken then some remedial work is required at the start of the second weekend to get student skill levels up again. Regional courses will take place but as the student:Instructor ratio is 2:1 and all instructor costs have to be provided by the students these will not be at the price many BSAC members have experienced for other SDCs.

If there are any other specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Regards,

Dave

Hi and thanks for the responses,

To book a course you can E-mail me at davedotlock@BSAC.com, I'll then contact you when we're ready to roll. I expect that the initial courses will be via BSAC Technical Centres until we qualify more instructors. Entry level is not fixed yet but likely to be MOD1 plus xx dives and owning a unit.

The Student materials are available from the BSAC Shop and are c.£35 to BSAC members. These are quite a step up from anything else I've seen but then I'm biased.

Regards,

Dave

Duh,

Just read the posts again - obviously "Air Diluent" materials only available from the BSAC Shop. Mixed gas materials available after the courses launch!

Hi Dave,

Surprised to see you on the YD forum with all us northerners.

Probably see you again at one of the BSAC CCR Instructor training sessions (if I can get a place)

Cheers

Hi Garry,

I'm North of Watford gap but East of everone! Mike will be running the workshops as I'm short of leave, BSAC keeps eating it up! However Straights of Hormuz beckon in November, O2 is sorted just need to find out if I can take "kitty litter" in my hand baggage.
