I have been using panasonics bought from 7dayshop, since I got my vision back in April.

On a few occaisions I have had unexpected low battery warnings. This did not particularly worry me until last month one of my regular buddies, was diving a vision showing 3 'blobs' battery strength at the beginning of the dive which went to 'low battery' during the dive, combined with a CO2 hit.

After consulting Nicky at AP, I now understand that the panasonic batteries are
not recommended by AP because they do not work well under high load.

So I will be trying Fujitsu's in future, and as has been mentioned earlier in the thread, they are available from BatteryMasters.

Just had a look at these. Great price at £12 for four until I saw the £22 charge for delivery to Ireland WTF!! Are they delivering them in person?

Thats interesting because thats what hapend to me with the Energiser Batteries AP used to recomend. Maby thats why they switched.

I cant say my Panasonics were trouble free because I did have a handset switch off during a dive but I can say I did about 120 hous on them without a problem. I got the Fugitso jobbies because thats what was on special that week when i got them

Ones I've used

To be really honest then, someone to be able to categorically state that one is better than the other must have some evidence. Do you all take a slate with you and log exactly how many hours each manufacture lasts for ? I reckon not somehow. AP probably have the best experience on this subject. I myself buy whatever is cheapest on 7 day shop.com and recently purchased some more fuji films at 10 quid odd for 5, never had a problem with any of the regular brands. I did have some cheap and nasties called PAKKO, they really were crap and noticeably, about 5 dives max per battery. I may sound slightly hypocritical here, in that I don't think anyone really has done exact testing, I certainly haven't except that in general all major brands are very similar, except the cheap crap ones I had and subsequently binned after the first two lasting noticeably for less dives, and about half as long as the energisers supplied with my unit. For those who remember, there was a battery brand that gave less "battery bounce" in the old classic units, and that was from my experience why they were recommended. Now this is resolved. So, I'm going to continue to use whatever major brand is on offer, though I have a stash and won't need to buy more for probably two years or more. One other thing I do, is usually avoid two of the same brand, just in case I have a bad batch. At the moment I have a fuji film and a panasonic on reserve - anyone else do this ? I've never had a problem with losing a battery totally in one dive, and even delilberately let one drain out in the pool just to test the failover on the new vision software - it worked.
Just my humble tuppence worth.
Save diving all, and remember if feel cold, you can warm your hands on my cock. :-)

If you can buy what AP recommend at reasonable prices, why not use them? I'm paying approx. £3 for a Fujitsu vs £2 for a Panasonic.

It it worth taking the risk, to save a quid?

his is exactly what I mean about major brands, what exactly is the "risk"? that it may last one dive less than another brand? You have a full battery in reserve, so in my view there really is no risk. I mix brands, deliberately, to avoid the possibility of a bad batch - but then you would know anyway as your primary would die quickly. If what AP recommended were on offer, I'd buy them, I'm sure there could be a commercial decision on what ones they choose - one brand may supply them 1000 at a certain price, another btrand may be dearer - commercial sense is buy the cheap ones. Like I say, when someone comes up with some scientific extensive testing, I just might listen. Until then, any major brand will do for me as I've nevery had any problems. This is, just like gas choice, really down to personal choice and views.
Cheers,
Tim.
