| Try dive the units. At the moment the only person it seems who can offer try dives on KISS, Inspo, Vision, Meg is Rich Stevenson. He was running a session last week when I saw him, probably best to give him a shout and get it sorted. Once you've done a try dive then you can ask a million questions on the units with them in front of you. It's very hard to go through the things without being able to show and demonstrate these things. 1. I think you can see my reccomendation. Tell him Digger sent you. 2. Training takes a few days, usually 4-5 days depending. 3. Most people will try a lot of units and make a decision, then train on their own unit. If you want to train on a rented unit it's normally possible, but certainly isn't the route most choose. 4. Good. You want a group to dive with, and it helps that they're int he same position as you, so you can all progress together. Plus that's ideal numbers for a course. You will learn from each others experiences. In your part of the country you could either travel to Plymouth, or get an instructor to come to you if there's a few of you. There's plenty of places you can do a Mod 1 course in your part of the world. Digs. |

| Ah. The age old "I'd love to dive OC but it just doesn't make sense any more". Me too. I think there's a lot of us would like to dive OC but at 40m+ it starts getting expensive and you start carrying a lot of gas to spend significant time on the wreck. Can't hurt to try a few out, that's what I did before I bought anything, and it really helps. You can get an idea of what it's like to have counterlungs on your front, or to monitor ppO2 regularly. Different strokes for different folks. Digs. |

| well if you had asked that rebreather diver that was hanging below you on the shot on the Barrie with the two seven litre sidemounts we could have sorted out an inspo course

| Hi Taza I had the pleasure of Phil Short as my instructor, the course was over a 5 day period. I went straight for the vision from AP purchased through the NDAC at Chepstow as a package including the course. Richard Locke from Plymouth, Kara C is also a good instructor worth a try. 3 of us took the course in January of this year and dive together on a regular basis, 75 hours total already Hope this helps Stay safe Gerry |

| Hi I went over to the States for my training (got free accomodation) - made it a bit of a holiday as well - although still bloody cold I rented a unit for my first course, decided I wanted a different unit and bought and trained on second unit. However, maybe if I'd bought the first unit I wouldn't have changed my mind, who knows.. On the plus side, if you buy a US based unit, you can collect it yourself and avoid shipping costs.

| Hi Taza, Did MOD1 with Phil Short, took 4 LONG days. Great instructor - bloody good laugh, which helps IMHO. Phil does low instructor to student ratio?...he used a safety diver for 2 of us!...Martin Lowe - also a great bloke Roy

| A safety diver is required for the course anyway! Another vote for Rich Stevenson, but Dave Cooper seems to be highly recommended and SimonTW is a top bloke. One thing to check is the agency you'll be trained under. For me it was the IANTD qualification that swung it as it meant I could use my unit with my BSAC club. There's an offer for a BSAC inspo course in December this year in the training section as well.
