Question Repetitive diving on CCR

If you did a deep dive on ccr at what depth on the first dive would you then consider a second dive to much of a risk of DCI with an SI of 2-3 hours in between dives and what do you base it on ?

For instance would you dive to say 50m and then dive again later to 20m or would you dive deeper and still dive later. or would you keep the second dive very shallow say 10m on top of a reef.

What have you guys done ?

i would ponally prefer to do one dive a day 50+, and just do one long dive as i am too lazy to mess about with second dives one good long one is better than two shorter dives in my opinion

ok but if you where on a day boat in the red sea, and you have done your long deep first dive and it's a couple of hours later when all the oc crew are jumping in for the second or third and its only 6-10m to the top of the reef would you stay on the boat or jump again and keep it shallow?

There are two considerations.

The first is that you will recompress any bubbles that you have off-gasses on your first dive (and there will be some).

The second is that you will still have dissolved inerts in your tissues.

I would not worry about the second point, and just do the extra deco required by computer / tables / etc. But the first is a worry, and so I would try and avoid diving for a couple of hours after surfacing.

I hate to say it, but GI3's article "why we do not bounce dive..." is probably quite relevant here (well the physiology is).

If it was a short dive to 50m, then I would do the second dive no worries.

For a long-ish dive (45mins at 50m?) then I would try and give myself at least 6 hours before another dive. It's not like you're missing out in the red sea - there's plenty of dives to be done.

if its a liveaboard somewhere warm and you can pick your depth then i would do it witrhout worrying although after a few days i supos eit all depends on what tables/computer you are following, if you are using a ccr computer then its easy, i have done one liveaboard trip and we were doing three dives a day, most of the diving was the shallow red sea wrecks trips with the odd needlebender thrown in for good measure, plenty of people have done the red sea trips and been fine, i would just start taking it easy after a few days

Regularly do two deep dives a day (50 - 60 metres) Last year we dived a site out of plymouth where tides were irrelevant and we did a 90 minute surface interval but during the sailing ship project we were forced to wait for second slack with the corresponding LONG surface interval.

I prefer to do my deepest longest dive last - and deco out from it accordingly.

thats just too keen!!, back in the day maybe, but i think doing doubkle dives like that in the uk maximises exposure and increases risk, i think one long exposure is better than two exposures personally...

i have done two 50 to 65 m twice a day on dive trips in places like norway and singerpore but i always had a good 4H+ between dives ,

have done two dives a day for 6 days max depth on same days was 68m first dive then 56m later , the later the better . me thinks ,

ps
if you get bent dont blame me all air dives and o2 deco
