I'm getting there hours wise for MOD 2/3, but all in water time is good.
Paul's been trying to get me out to Malta for a while but I think I'm stuck in this country for this year i'm afraid.
Look forward to the course - you know you're going to have a riot with Auntie Toomer!!

Believe it when I see it.

Actually my Sentinel head just went back for an O2 pressure transducer fault under warranty. They seem to be right on the ball which pleases me after seven years of APD's instant response.

The thing is going to need a lot of work done on it before it displaces the ol' YBOD as my prefered dive tool.

What kind of things will you be changing Nigel ?
If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos... then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.

We will be doing a VR demo day at NDAC 27th June. Phil Short and Paul Toomer will be offering Sentinel try dives. We will also have a batch of VRXs for people to try out as well.

Longer backplate so it sits on the big bones of my pelvis rather than digging into my kidneys.
Longer hoses feeding the switch blocks so they don't stick out so much.
KT frame to make it taller so you can sit down without it rolling you over backwards.
Somewhere to mount a suit bottle and my umbilical torch battery (frame?).
Probably swap the inflexible harness material for something you can adjust.
A handle that doesn't have huge bolts that dig into your shoulders.
Reroute the switch block pipes to you don't crush them into your shoulders.

I tried a Golem Gear Armadillo but I think a KT frame will do the job better.

    There is probably more.
It's not bad in the water bit it's awful out of it.
I rate it as the Land Rover P38 of rebreathers:
Ought to be wonderful because they've thought of everything but somehow they missed the point on virtually everything.

Interesting comments- it's nice to hear others have decided the Sentinel needs a bit of tweaking to make it right! Nigel I agree with most of your comments:-

What's with the floppy bit of bent plastic at the bottom that leaves the unit leant back at a stupid angle? Trying to get up you look like a turtle stuck on it's back! I pack my fins under the baseplate to stay comfy whilst getting kitted up and doing the pre-breathe. Needs a longer backplate or KT mod- enough space there for the suit inflate bottle I'm hoping...
Longer hoses feeding the switch blocks so they don't stick out so much.
They obv got Miflex to make up custom hoses so why is the O2 block stuck on the top of your shoulder and the dil halfway down? And yes they're both too high up for me so I'm looking to get some replacement hoses to move them down and at the same position on the harness.
I tried a Golem Gear Armadillo but I think a KT frame will do the job better.
I have the thicker, heavier KT backplate as this means with 4kg in the weight pockets on the wing (Hate the look of the later units with the weight pockets on the casing!) I don't need a weight belt. Is John at KT working on a frame as I remember when I ordered the backplate we discussed the opportunities for him to sort the Sentinel out? I was going to butcher the original backplate and poss use the result as something he could produce a neater job of?

I love the unit though- just needs finishing off!

    Paul.
