OK ill make my position simpler still using your vernacular - 'IMO if you are not doing big ball stuff OR intending to do big ball stuff, (or photography) then a RB may add more risk than benefit and therefore may not be the best tool for the job' But hey its only my opinion its fine if you disagree - just state your position politely and leave my balls out of it |

| Sphericals aside, so you're on a 15m wreck on OC, vis a bit pants, towards end of no-stop time you get tangled in some net- would an RB have been a better tool for the job? You're away for the weekend, 20m wreck dive followed by a bimble each day. OC you need to strip your kit and traipse around for fills- RB, maybe a better tool for the job. IMVHO, obviously. |

Maybe Im different than you but at 15m I aint going to get into much in the way of deco requirement and OC gas will last a heck of a long time! I guess you consider the risk of getting stuck in a net at 15m and not having enough OC gas to free yourself higher than the risk of high CO2, hypoxia or hyperoxia using a rereather. Perhaps my opinon comes from having never been or seen anyone get stuck in netting on shallow recreational dives - but I have seen several cases of hypoxia, hyperoxia and CO2 hits that has left one buddy wheelchair bound and one no longer with us. Each to his own - lets leave it there hey? |

| No 2 This is my second attempt at posting, spent ages on the last one and lost it. I am a professional recreational diver, that means that I dive as much as possible hence the address Hurghada. Most days I do 15 to 20 mtr reef and enjoy it but now I want to expand and do more chalengeing diving. I still want to do the reef stuff but would like to do the deeper stuff in addition. I beleive that as with all new tech, improvements will be made and that RBs will be the norm rather than the exception. I haven't progressed to twins and want to know about moving on to CCR or SCCR rather than going all twins then in 12 months going to RB. It doesn't matter if it's only used 20 to 30 times a year. Or I could use it even for the shallow reef stuff. I don't want to cause a rant, I value each and every opinion because it's impartial and no one here is trying to sell me one. Please keep the responses comming. if you think I'd be better on OC it's not a problem. I really do value the opinions of the YD fraternity. I have also read that Andy P and MArk Chase are to move onto RB, I greatly admire them and enjoy reading there trip reports. It they are progressing this way it must be the future. Discuss..... Thanks

| Hi Simon, Did you do your test drive on the Dreager? How did you get on? I only know one Draeger owner so don't know a great deal about them- MOD of 30m, SCR IIRC. Simple to use and can be modified for slightly deeper AIUI. Have heard that spares are a b*gger to get hold of, though. DRMIKE, Yeah, we'll have to agree to disagree, just reacting to the tone of your posts since arriving here, I suppose. As you say, each to his own ATB, Terry |
