John (narked at 90) and myself did an hour dive around the lip of the pit at 20 m then visited the Staingarth. John says I swim too fast to keep up with on his modified Dolphin. Padowan was there with his YBOD and Digger showed up later with his bag of shite. Actually it looks promising but he needs a better scrubber like the one I'll sell him.

The Orlieb bag wing must have fooled the staff into thinking I had a proper BC on as planned.

Jerome couldn't make it unfortunately so the turnout was rather disapponiting.

Exactly, sidemount rb's are the way ahead.

From a wannabe perspective it was very interesting. Nice to swim side-by-side with a YBOD and KISS to compare.

Digger managed 29.19 seconds on his Bag of Shite. I was impressed. He tried his favourite game of "Spook the Support Diver" which earned him a slap(scrubbers are quite hard actually ).

I'll have his mask off next time...

OK, so I have to confess to a major "Duvet Hostage" Incident, in my defense, Im from Brighton. Its a long trek to dive in choccy soup.

Glad everyone had a laugh, although it seems you didnt do much to try and scare the stoney staff!

So who was on the KISS?

Talking

Tough call... which just got tougher...

I'm still veering towards the Yellow side but to be honest, cash is going to make the decision for me...

I am going to resurrect my DIYBOD though - at least for deco use. Hate to say this, but if the Bag of Shite can fly, I must be able to get something up and running...

Watch this space...

Duncan,

I can't get over how surprised I was at the way a sidemount rebreather works, so much so that I might abandon my plan to rig the new one backmounted when the scrubber comes. The more I think about it the more sense it makes, both from performance and rigging.

I'll sort the link tonight, the webpage seems to have gone awry but the pics are there showing its guts:

No-one. I failed the "Wanabee Train-Spotting" course.

It was actually a Drager. But there are shared bits so I wasn't far off...
