Smile 100 hours on my unit...

When I did Mod 1 last December, the 100 hours for the Trimix course seemed a major hurdle. Well, it's taken me 11 months but I've done it!

Most of the hours have been done on wreck & drift dives on the south coast from Brighton, Eastbourne, Littlehamption, Weymouth, Salcome & Falmouth. I've kept the inland quarry diving to the minimum.

I've also taken the unit to Cyprus & Egypt (Red Sea) for some warm water, wet suit diving. Diving from & pick-ups by the small zodiac's used by Red Sea liveaboards was interesting. The unit survived been hauled over the tubes & then onto the back of the liveaboard, just shows how tough the Inspiration is!

Over the year I've had:
o low battery warning
o falling ppO2 due to low battery
o a low battery resulting in automatic failover to slave handset
o a couple of high ppO2 alarms

The amount of lead I carry has dropped a lot over the year, it's now down to sensible levels

My Trimix course is scheduled for January & I'm looking forward to my second year of CCR diving...

JT

Very well done to you.

100 hours is a good demonstration of commitment now the fun begins.

Just keep an eye on them, they devour you if you turn your back......

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Commitment???
It's all been a lot of fun.

I only dive because I enjoy it.
I certainly never went out to 'do the hours' but to do interesting diving.

Hummmmm Unlike Nigel I had to force my self to dip into puddles shore dives drifts and the such like and even shipped the unit to the Red Sea to do a weeks scooby do diving. All in the effort to chase hours on the unit to allow me to do Mod3. It took 7 months. I am not saying I didn't enjoy all the dives but there were quite a few puddles I would rather never visit again.

Congratulations John on you're 100 hours, its nice to have that little mill stone removed from around your neck. Its also nice to see you did most of it on proper dives. I have to hang my head in shame on that score

Personally I think the new standards offered by TDI (thank God I missed them) are good but would be improved if they drooped the hours to 50 and allowed normoxic use of Trimix for qualified divers.

Look forward to seeing you on the mix trips
