| I got a leaflet last week for the unit, it looks and sound a good alterntive for the OC diver not wanting to go deep., There is quite a lot of posts about on rebreather world saying its not to to trusted and that if your to thick to dive a normal rebreather you should not dive any. I am very tempted and am sure that some of the posters just don,t want to see rebreather entering the mainstream of diving. I would like to make my own mind up, for 3700 its cheapish , but I can,t find anywhere that gives a prices for the prepacked scrubbers. |

| As has been said, there's been a lot of dicussion about this unit on rebreather world. There appear to be 2 camps: 1, It's made by fisher price and you can stick it; 2, It's got some innovative features and is Ok for what it does I'm in the third camp which says "How much? - you must be joking!" A 40M rated unit is fine, but if that's enough for you - why not a sport kiss or a scr? Both of which you can buy and still have enough change for a dive trip pretty much anywhere you want. This thing is set to compete with a standard OC rig - but at that price it'll struggle. Rumour has it that a commercial diving operation called "deep life" is looking to bring in a manual CCR with elctronics package for about a grand. That's the money they need to be looking at to give OC a run for its money. Mind you, that unit has been awaited for 3 years - possibly more. It's always "due to be released soon" or somesuch. The word "vapourware" springs to my mind on it.

| Im not convinced on this unit, we would all love cheaper pricing on RBs, but it looks very flimsy, the future of diving will most likely entail divers using something like this as standard, as OC has had a good run but with research and design of systems getting better and better, maybe 10 years time RBs could be the norm. The majority of divers looking at RBs are still going to be looking for a unit that can perform more than what they use it for possible at some time down the line, so why limit yourself to 40m's now and then find you want to go a little deeper, and have the restriction be the unit. As mentioned, if you need something very simplistic to dive on without bubbles, then rebreather diving may not be a good choice for you, for anyone who has done the MOD1, the most important thing is to know your PP02 at all times and be pro-active in monitoring your unit, these task loading duties might not suit a diver who just wants to potter and look at fish. Having the CIS-LUNAR name on it had people think that we could possibly have an updated version of the classic RB unit, but infact we got something that wouldnt look out of place on a self in a toy store.
