dragersorb is hemi-spherical

Spherasorb is spherical and has very little dust content, it also tends to settle less than granular lime. Lots of European divers use it, the makers of the EDO4 recommend it. Dr Jerome Meynie uses it and has taken it in a Mk15.5 to -180m, so I guess it works. Cheers, Stuart

It must work, it just struck me as an inefficient shape. If the the stuff is porous I don't suppose it makes a lot of difference.

take a look in the archives on the KISS list, we hashed this one out about a month ago. Spherasorb seems to run at about 10% less efficiency than 797 grade sofnolime, but its reduced WOB should in theory reduce CO2 generation. There was some test data published against the coarser mesh lime, so using that and Molecular products own test data, you can generate that extrapolation. Myself and a couple of other chaps are playing with it as well. /Zak

the new submatix semi closed rebreather uses it, Abyss uk will be stocking it. When i test dived this unit we used this sorb, as for changing it i did find there was little dust, and easy to use. breathing rate wasnt restricted but it isnt efficient as the lime used in the inspiration. As far as i'm aware it only comes in 5kg drums and as a price comparrison it works out cheaper than sofnalime. But if mixed with water i believe it it more caustic than sofnolime but i could be wrong happy diving
