Time to dive.

You may be able to take it Simon, dealing with other divers who usually are friendly people. I work in the oil industry, in the Middle East, I need to escape the whole Arab nightmare for a few weeks a year. Plus the only advantage I can see of doing it in the red sea would be warm water.

This has to be a joke, right.

Time ??

Hello,

You read everywhere that the lifetime of a full inspiration scrubber is 3hrs at 4'C water temp but has anyone tested the CCR canister in 20'C water, would the canister gives you more time?

Regards

Unhappy Not been tested

No I don’t believe it has been officially tested for greater duration in warmer water (someone correct me if I’m wrong here). It probably would last longer, there are probably a lot of divers out there doing this already. What’s worth remembering though is that these guys have probably been diving the unit for a long time, have a lot of real experience of their own CO2 production rate and are never going to tell you to push it more than the manufactures recommended time. No one will tell you this or should tell you. If you were given a time period greater than the 3 hours that’s recommended and then pushed your scrubber longer. Something could happen to you. That would make them feel bad about themselves at the very least. At worst they could be called to give evidence at a coroner’s inquest, maybe even have charges brought against them by your family. Do like the guys say Pierre and look at the Moles site, the rules for the scrubber should be like the holy commandments to you. Please don’t even think of going over the time Pierre, a lot of people have already died using this set. It does no good for the unit’s reputation and will likely finish yours.
I am no authority on this or any other re breather, I’m just starting out like you but I am a little scared of the Ybod. I think this is a good thing.

Hello,

I was just curious as I was reading the ADP website and states that 3hrs at 4'c. Of course that this is not the way to go, also I didn't even done the training yet! I wanted to check as on Madmole it states different times for different depths, and wanted to know if it makes any difference from diving the unit in 4'c to 20'c+

Regards

Pierre

Like I said Pierre, I'm no expert. Like you I'll be diving my unit in warm waters. It does seem to be a bit harsh that the same time duration applies. I have looked for this myself and could find nothing form AP regarding different durations for warmer waters. I'll just stick to what's published and see how I get on. Sorry if I sounded a bit self righteous in my last post, I didn't intend to be. I'm like you waiting to do the course and trying to get all the information I can. Anything I say about the unit can essentially be ignored, these are just my views based on what I have read. Until I actually do the training and start diving my own unit I'll be feeling my way around trying to learn. It’s good others who are just starting out.

Best of luck with the course Pierre.
