British Airways gives you an extra bag of 32kg I think for sports gear.
If you're going to the States/Mexico etc baggage allowance is usually 2 x 23kgs

Luggage allowance

XL airways has just lowered their long haul (Egypt for me) allowance from 20kg to 15kg for hold luggage and 5Kg for hand luggage

They do give you 10Kg extra for dive gear if you show them a dive certification card.

If you bought your tickets before 1st Jan '08 they will honour the old allowance until 1st May.

Regards
Stewart

First Choice

20 Kilos Standard allowance + 10 kilos extra with First Choice for diving gear if you ring at least 4 days before travelling on 0871 664 0144:

First Choice - Information on Luggage.

They send you out a letter to show the check in staff. You need a qual card to show at check in, tanks must be emptied to 15 PSI.

Done this 3 times in last 18 months (europe & long haul) and never had a problem. I also get the missus to take her PADI card to claim her 10 kilos as well!

I'd missed this Mark, going with anyone interesting? I'd have thought you'd all be telling us all about this trip, not leaving it till just before you go before letting it slip.

With BA it depends on how you fly i.e. economy, business etc as you get a different number of bags etc.

The wife and I have just been looking tonight at flights to Cyprus and flying economy the allowance is:

2 x Hand luggage, one laptop size bag and one normal size bag with a maximum weight of 23kg,
1 x Checked bag max weight 23kg

So each person gets 45kg of luggage..........

If you upgrade to Business/First class etc then you get another checked bag of 23kg so that 46kg of hold luggage plus 23kg of hand luggage 69kg total.........

And to make it nice and easy if you need excess baggage you just "buy" another bag which allows another 23kg.

I think anyone will agree that these are very very good allowances so good I had to go over it all numerous times as I thought we had misread it all.
