Imported post The other option for rigging is as I do - use a Metalsub quick release or similar. The pony has a netal block securely attached by ss jubilees (easy to remove) and a mating bracket on the cam band (this is held against the side of the tank and kept stable when the band is tightened)... It's a very solid mount and I've never noticed any wobble. As for back mounting - I've nevernoticed any difference having the pony to one side of the main cylinder (but hey, I'm DIR with a 3l ali anyhow... :cheesy: ) but must admit reaching the valve would prove "interesting" underwater..... PS Lou - got your oceanic cdx sorted? Alert

Imported post Got the recall notice through the post yesterday. I am glad they have admitted something is up. I t took me long enough to get anyone to do something about mine and it sounds like it is exactly the fault they described, only I called it a flutter in the first stage rather than a hammer. I wonder if the cause is responsible for the over-pressuring too?

Imported post A cam band slotted through a stainless steel bracket works fine. I took the lower cam band off my Transpac II and replaced it with Scubapro's two-piece band with stainless steel hooks. That way, I can mount the pony on my main cylinder (inverted so that I can reach the valve) and put my BC on my cylinder afterwards. It's quite secure and I can switch my pony to another cylinder in a matter of seconds even if it's not the same size as the first cylinder. You need a standard octo hose if you invert the pony, though. Put a surgical tubing necklace on the reg so that you can wear it just under your chin and get at it in a fraction of a second without having to search or fumble. If you ever need it, you'll need it NOW. :sofa:

Imported post As for attaching a pony to your main tank Narked at 60 do a strap to hold a pony. This is priced at around £25 but as I keep getting told you may be able to get it cheaper somewhere else. ;) Ali

Imported post Ive got the same set up as drifty and I find the mount is solid the pony never moves and is very stable unlike when the pony is in a bag with straps that go round the main tank the pony tends to move around and bang agaist the main tank.

Imported post Let me know your opinions. Go Dive are doing the package for £160. A mares reg with canvas bag atachment and tank. I can get a N Diver package for about £250 which includes the cyl. a gauge, metalsub clamp and a atx 40 octopus reg. They were saying im better getting a apeks tx40 reg as it is enviromentally sealed. Is it okay to use an octopus reg with a pony system. Im using one as my standard octopus anyway. Whats the best lenght reg hose to get?

I'm about to get a DS4 1st stage to make my octo Tx40 into my secondary reg for my twinset, your tx 40 or atx 40 octo is the same kit as your primary DV so no worries there. Re hose length, if its for a pony I reckon standard length will do you, unless you were going to mount it upsidedown for access to the valve (a la RN styl-ee) Steve |
