Atomic M1 Reg. Is there anyone out there using an Atomic M1 Reg? Thinking of buying one but would like to know of any problems that you have you have had with them. Also after a good dive shop that sell and service them in the UK. John

I think that the UK importer is Mike's. They may also be the only dealer. http://www.mikesdivestore.com/ I've never used the regs. They did very well in Diver tests a while back - but given the price they should do! http://www.divernet.com/equipment/1202regtest.htm David

JJJBBB Why do you think the B2 would not be suitable for cold water? John

[quote=duc996bp]JJJBBB Why do you think the B2 would not be suitable for cold water? I am only guessing but there is very little metal in the second-stage to act as a heat sink and the first-stage which is impressively designed when you consider precision engineering and long service intervals is of a piston-type which has in the past not had a good free-flow record at Stoney Cove. I would think that at temperatures more than eight degrees C. (the sea) there would be nothing to be concerned about. Its only my opinion. For me a diaphragm-type first-stage combined with an all-metal second-stage would be the best bet against free-flow from freezing in winter-cold fresh water.

JJJBBB I have cut this from a Typoon newsletter (UK importers for Atomic). "The B2 comes factory-ready for Nitrox to 40% and are all environmentally sealed for freeze protection at low temperatures. Thanks to the corrosion resistant materials used the recommended service interval is only once every two years or three hundred dives. And Atomics are so confident of the quality of their equipment that every regulator comes with a limited lifetime warranty as standard." Based on this would you still have reservations about using it in cold fresh-water? John

I have used the one I possess in cold fresh water on a tank H-valve alongside a metal second-stage diaphragm regulator. Neither have free-flowed due to freezing. Does this mean neither ever will? Your guess is as good as mine! I have never had a regulator freeze but I know that many people have. As I said before, it's just an opinion. You make the decision.

http://www.rockbottomdive.co.uk/ They do something called bottom of the month, where a particular product is on a special. The M1 was on special recently, if you email Mary she might be able to sort something again. Mark
