Cylinder damage

hi i have a 12ltr that has sopm damage near the break of the cylinder at the top. Basically, its taken quite a nasty scratch thats gone through the paint.

i was thinking of masking off the small 1 inch area and spraying or paintint it with something, but whats the best thing to use toprevent rust developing etc

Cheers

I would use a little dab of something like Jenolite a rust cure/preventer before over painting or nail varnishing as this will make sure that any corrosion that may be starting in the exposed area is stopped before you hide it.

I've just put some pink glittery nail varnish over the bit where the paint has been damaged by the stamps.

Chase me...

Didn't the place that stamped it paint over the stamp mark for you?

Ah, the same lot that said my June 2002 cylinder was out of test even though the new rules were made in March 2002!

Those are the rules that upped the test period to 2.5 years yes?

I meant to ask when they came in as I couldn't remember and I'd got some tanks tested in Sept 2002 - but looks like they're ok for another 6 months

Yep. Old rules visual every 2 years, new rules every 2.5 years and hydrostatic is now 5 instead of 4 (I think). If your cylinder was made or last tested before the new rules then they come under the old rules. Then once tested they won't need testing again for 2.5 years. But because there's no definite date when these rules came into force there's much confusion. My cylinder was made after the new rules but AFAIK IDEST said they'd start enforcing from August 2002, thus they treat my cylinder as under the old rules. The things even painted with the black/white quarters as per new rules but it didn't matter!. In the end I got it tested as I needed it for a trip 7 days later. Didn't get it tested at stoney though
