Tactile vavle handles for twinset

3 new rubber tactile handles have just appeared on my desk thanks to the wonders of internet shopping and the good people at dirdirect.

Now, silly question, but If in unscrew the handles that are currently on the tank to attach these, will I get a cross-head bolt and plastic handle through my head and out of the wall at 230 bar, or I am ok to go ahead without risk of demolishing the house. In other words, do the tanks have to be empty before I put them on

Cheers

As Nick said.

The screw that holds the knob on is not holding any pressure in. One tip however is to stick a reg on the valve, and open it before taking the old knob off. This gives you a bit more space to work, as the spindle is further out.

I found I had to file out the square hole in the new knob a little with a needle file, but other than that, a doddle.

Anyone know where I can get one of these funny screw drivers? Or alternatively know its proper name so I can order one

Or is it a case of attacking an old screw driver with a file?

I got several of them when I ordered a set of screwdriver bits from Screwfix. . . and the local hardware shop had a nail-remover which was basically a bent version of the same. . .

Prior to that I used the tin opener blade on my swiss army knife, which probably isn't the best solution. . .

Halfords (Draper I think) do a bent version of them for removing interior panels in cars. I made my own from a large B&Q screwdrivers and used a Dremel grinder to make the slot in the middle.

Makes life much easier I must admit.
