Question Mares Proton Ice - Long Hose Question

Has anyone put a long hose on a Mares Proton Ice V32 first stage?

The first stage has an unusual (to me) lp port and i can't see to find a hose which will fit it.

From the mares site i think the lp port is a: 1 LP 1/2" UNF port (primary)

Can anyone shed any light on where i could get a hose to convert my first stage reg to a long hose which will fit the above port?

Eddy

You can buy 1/2" long hoses, or you could get a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter.

[edit]

Phill does 1/2" hoses

The 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapters DO NOT WORK with this first stage. You will find that the narrow bore of the 3/8 hose fouls on the little tube thing in the first stage just before it nips up properly into the adapter.

The other problem is that you can't use a standard 1/2 inch blanking plug on this port, again because of the little tube thingy, which means you can't just switch to using the 3/8 port instead.

Phills 1/2 inch hoses work fine if he has any in stock (I have been pestering him for one for about two months now).

One alternative is to use an adapter that allows you to join two LP hoses together, which means you can just add onto the original Mares hose (yes, I know all about failure points).

This is the single 'feature' that spoils an otherwise first class regulator IMHO.

Oh, I use a 2.1m long hose.

As recurve says, 2.1m is a good length. I have used 2m in the past, but the extra length makes a big difference when hog-wrapping.

Hose arrived from Niknaks in time for my weekends dive - i would recommend the 210mm hose if anyone else wants to mod away from the retail version of the proton ice.
