Stealing bands from twins

Hi,

I am off on hols soon and want to twin up some independents when I get there (I am flying).

Can I take the bands safely off my twinset without emptying them, or will there be too much pressure on the manifold?

Even if not the latter, will it affect my ability to put the bands back on again (I used the ability to rotate the manifold to test if they were aligned OK)?

Thanks

Gareth

As the cylinders you rent may be a different diameter than your present set I would reccomend using AP Valves twinning cam bands instead.

Yeah, you listen to Matt!

It's by far the easiest way of twinning up on hols etc AND you annoy the dive centre by leaving a twin set to lug around all the time you are there!

Work with steel backplate?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies - would the buddy option work with a steel backplate?

I have a Apex WTX backplate (not the harness jobby).

I'd contact the dive centre and ask them if they already have twinning bands available and get them booked in advance. Makes for a much easier life

Or if you'd rather not take the risk I'm selling a set of SS bands for 10-12 litre steels, will probably fit AL80s too.

You'll probably get most SS bands to fit, it's just not often that pretty. THey are relatively heavy though once you've got all the bolts and stuff in, might be worth thinking about.

Digs.
