Imported post Hello everyone, Anyone here knows exactly how a Custom Divers Valve protectors http://www.customdivers.com/valveprotectors.htm is build ? I am very interested in this product as will be a valve protector and offer a handle to carry cylinders. I wish to build this part myself but depends on how many components are there . Also what you think about the protection it offers to manifold stability? Regards Pierre Farrugia

Imported post I've just bought Andy2Tanx old CD VPs - making them yourself...? guess you'll need SS tubing (don't know what grade), a pipe bending apparatus, and access to a milling machine to make the clamps which fit around the cylinders. Should be easy enough if you work in engineering (or have a mate that does), don't know what SS is like re welding, only ever done it on mild steel in the past. HTH Steve

Imported post My only problem is, how the vertical rod is attached to the 2 cylider neck clamps. Regards Pierre

Imported post There's a locking nut (plastic friction insert type, don't know the correct engineers name for it)which appears to screw onto a stud inserted into the end of the SS tubing, this stud passes thru the tank clamp. If I had a digital camera I could take a pic of the assembly and e-mail it to you but unfortunately I haven't, perhaps if one of the other YD-ers has a digicam we could do that on a future dive trip. Alternatively I could sketch the assembly, scan it and mail a scan to you if you like, let me know if that would help Chee-az Steve

Imported post Hello Steve and thanks, yes that was what I was looking for. Can you please draw a sketch of how it's done and mail it over, my e mail is gasmlt@yahoo.com or pfarr@global.net.mt Thanks Pierre

Imported post OK Pierre, I'll knock up a sketch today and mail it to you. As far as I understand your last question, no , only the stud with the threads passes thru the cylinder clamp, hopefully my sketch will explain it better than I can with text . I'll post here when I've mailed it Steve

Imported post Ok two "Word 2000" documents on their way to you, let me know how you get on with them or if you need them in an earlier version of Word Chee-az Steve

Imported post Thanks Steve, you could not expaline it better, thanks. Now I have a clear picture to start with. Thanks again Pierre Farrugia

Imported post Hi Pierre,I was reading your post and recalled that Probe Diving Services over here also make this type of valve protector. They're actually made for them by a fabriction engineer who is a DM there.I've seen them and their quality is excellent,(they're also cheap). Now I have no pictures but I think(?)that Bren, one of the moderators here is actually in touch with this guy.If you needed maybe we could get the "low down" from him? Regards,Hobby.
