Here's where it gets REALLY fun: The wide bore hose isn't.

The hose is an absolutely normal hose. The only thing that's a different size is the metal bit at the end where the hose connects to the first stage.

I use the TX100, and my long hose is on the wide-bore port. There's no problem, the hose is not at all unwieldy. The only time a problem arises is if you need to replace the hose - stockists don't always have the awkward Apeks large bore size.

Go figure..

Aah of course, thanks for putting that straight Dom, I am a numpty at times. Ok Gav so I'd still go for the adaptor if required as it'll be a better option if you ever have a problem and need to swap or borrow a hose.

The spg I bought off Andy two-tanx at the weekend fitted my apeks 1st stage without an adaptor, but I don't know what 1st stage he had it on previously - dunno if that's a help or not.

Ta Steve. The gen is that one of the ports is 1/2in - the others are 3/8ths including the two HP so a normal spg hose fits fine.

Just two minor things which people might find of interest regards Apex.
1. I emailed them the other day because, whilst in the Red Sea the 2nd stage of the TX100 I was using appeared difficult to breathe from, I had it checked and the large diaphragm was 'crinkly' and slightly stiffer than the norm.
Anyhow Apex replied to the email sent another diaphragm and confirmed that "very rarely" and under conditions they can not duplicate, heat and water? (I did offer to return to the Red Sea in the interest of science) this occours. So full marks to Apex for customer service

2. Regards the 'adaptor' post. When I went to the twinset I spoke to Brett at diverswarehouse in Bradford. Who promptly set about some of my old hoses with a knife  shortening them and changing the end adaptor. This was merely a compression type of fitting and Ok on low pressure hoses. Could this be what the retailer meant? No problems so far
