Cylinder date
I ordered a new 7lt a few weeks ago from my LDS, he had aset of twin 7s there but he said they were sold and he would order me in a new cylinder which would be o2 clean.
I rang himthis morning and he said after some searching that it was there but i got the distinct impression that it was one of the twin 7s and im due to go tomorrow to get it
Is there any way of knowing it is new by dates or stamps etc?

Yes the date of manufacture is stamped on the cylinder (top by the neck)

Go Ali chap...or at least try one before you buy a stage.. I dived a steel 7 for a couple of years and am really kicking myself now I've tried an Ali...

Even an Ali 80 is nicer than a steel 7. and thats a big lump.

On Mark Powell's Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures course we did some stage swaps and one of the guys had a steel stage......the difference was noticeable!!!

Anyone tried a 232 ally 10 as a stage? I did in t'Egypt and it was ace. And holds the same amount of juice as an AL80 but is shorter so sits nice on my luv hips.

Problem with date stamp is thats the date made not date into shop. if you feel the date is more than your happy to except ask for a discount, if its o2 clean but date is six months old ask for discount and cylinder to be re cleaned.

Dave, if you need one for this weekend I can give you a loan of my ali 7. It just has air in it at the mo.
I'd highly recommend ali and not steel. I had 2 x 7 steels and twin 12s and it was a bas!ard - way too heavy. I'm getting another ali 7 soon!
