Hands Up Who Thinks All Manifolds and Valves....

are made by the same company and the parts are interchangeable?

During the recent Scapa trip I managed to snap the spindle off the end of a valve when the set bounced across the deck Once the set was bled down I could get the 1st stage off and then I stripped the set down to get the broken spindle out to replace it.

I went to Scapa Scuba who were very useful but the spindle was a different size so couldn't use that one. Wrote to Knackers who sent me a beaver set and whilst the spindle fitted, I managed to lose the brass slug inside the valve before Knackers stuff arrived so I needed to source another one as the Beaver one didn't fit

Emailed Tord at Agir who was extremely helpful and sent me a set over the weekend despite him having a Swedish dive show to attend (bloody nice bloke). I have tried to fit that and it doesn't fit either The Agir one gets about an 1/8th of a turn before the threads lock and I don't want to push it any further. The Beaver one doesn't even get to the stage because it appears to be too large.

I thought that maybe the valve head had been damaged when the set fell, so I took the slug from the other valve and that fits perfectly.

I have also noticed that the spindles are all slightly different lengths too...

Any idea where I can get a DIRZone brass slug for the manifolded twinset?

Thanks

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

of course, if you'd tied your twinset to the rail of the boat (given that it was what, a force 5, maybe 6?) you wouldn't have had to go through this excercise now would you
