I got a no just now from my LDS, but a yes when our club D.O. rang him to say it would be ok.

It seems strange that some shops will sell an air fill without seeing a cert but not nitrox.

The rules were invented when Nitrox involved selling your soul to the dark side and without training you were obviously going to kill yourself at once and, well, who wants a haunted dive shop?

These days we know it is air that is madness to dive and teach nitrox before we teach mask clearing but the rules have yet to catch up. Air is an acceptable mix in the pool but optimum nowhere. It is just so convenient.

I am going to be stuffed whern I go for Nitrox as I don't have any certification to prove that I passed the course. I am a BSAC Sports Diver and as nitrox is an integral part of the modern course it should prove interesting. I must get my plastic card sorted out at some point for the SD - one day.

Fair comment,,I know people who fill their own tubes from all sorts of so-called questionable sources,,,, ,,,,and quit frankly I begrudge the £15 BSAC charge for the certificate...
